Fitness Business Basics – The Team

Want to know a really simple way to determine where you stand with people?

It’s quite simple, actually – MOVE.

The next time you move, whether it’s to a new apartment, a new house, or even your business office, I want you to stop in the middle and take a quick look around at who is there with you.

Chances are, these are the truest and realest friends you have.

Because let’s be honest – no one likes to move stuff.

Whether it’s tromping up and down stairs, lugging awkward furniture around, or simply taking up your weekend doing monotonous work, moving isn’t fun.

The only thing worse than moving a home or office, though, is moving a gym!

I don’t care how much you like lifting, it’s all fun and games until you actually have to move all that heavy stuff somewhere else.

This past Saturday, we moved our gym, IFAST, to a new location. Luckily, it was only about 200 yards from our old space, but needless to say, this constituted a major effort on our part.

About midway through the day, I sat down for a moment to grab a little water and realized just how lucky I am to be surrounded by an absolutely great group of people.

This is your fitness business basics tip of the day:

If you’re serious about opening a gym, whether it’s 1,000 or 20,000 square feet, you’ll only be as successful as the people you surround yourself with.

Most importantly, strive to find hard working and dedicated individuals. People serious about getting better and taking their game to the next level.

But when in doubt, always try and find flat-out good people.

This week, Eric Cressey, Pat Rigsby and I are launching our Fitness Business Blueprint. If you own a facility, or you’d like to own a facility someday, this product is exactly what you need.

Quite simply, this is an A-Z guide on how to start a businesa – we cover everything from marketing and advertising, to assessments and coaching, to building systems and procedures.

When I say this covers everything, I mean it!

This week only (August 8th, 2011), you can pick up the Fitness Business Blueprint for $100 off the suggested retail price of $297.

I’ll be back tomorrow with another HUGE mistake that most fitness business owners make, myself included!

All the best
